Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Early Broadway performances are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. In her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors, actors, and other performers in stage and on screen throughout her entire career. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford's current film is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will be available on Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford is set to appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the production. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the nation's crisis, which swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment hearings in over one century. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway performances. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and grew up there.
